UNAIDS Internship Programme 2025 | Support the Fight Against HIV/AIDS


The UNAIDS Internship Programme offers an opportunity for motivated students and recent graduates to contribute to the UN’s response to HIV/AIDS. Internships are available in Geneva headquarters and across regional and country offices. Interns actively support projects in public health, human rights, communications, data science, and global advocacy.

About the Internship

UNAIDS internships are offered year-round and typically last 6 to 24 weeks. Interns work full-time and may receive a stipend, depending on location and funding. The internship is designed to provide experience in:

  • Health policy and programme coordination
  • Research and data management
  • Social media and public information campaigns
  • Monitoring and evaluation
  • Youth engagement and human rights

Interns are placed in departments aligned with their academic background and interests.

Who Should Apply?

  • Open to undergraduate (final year), graduate students, or recent graduates
  • Must be at least 20 years old and enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant program (e.g. public health, law, communications, development studies)
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of French, Spanish, Portuguese, or Russian is an asset
  • Passionate about health equity, social justice, and ending AIDS as a public health threat
  • UNAIDS values diversity—LGBTQ+ candidates, youth from the Global South, and people living with HIV are strongly encouraged to apply
